Summer Moong Distribution CDP Scheme 2025: The cultivation of Summer Moong not only enrich the soil fertility through fixation of nitrogen and addition of organic matter but also add to the income of the farmer by including it as a third crop in the cropping system. Therefore, for the first time, the Department of Agriculture has fixed a target of 1 lakh acres of Summer Moong during the year 2025. State Government has decided to provide the Summer Moong seed to the farmers at 75% subsidized rate. Thus, the total budget of Rs. 11.25 crore will be utilized during 2024-25 under “Promotion of Crop Diversification and Water Conservation 2024-25
The promotion of Green Manuring through Summer Moong is possible only in specific crop rotation system where the gap between harvesting and sowing of next crop is about two months. This year Department is planning promoting Summer Moong as a green manuring crop by providing seed to the farmers at 75% subsidized cost. The seed rate of Summer Moong is 25 Kg per hectare.

- 75% Subsidy by Govt of Haryana to Farmer and 25% cost of seed value is given by farmer.

Objective of Summer Moong Distribution CDP Scheme 2025
Green Manuring improves soil structure, Increases water holding capacity and decreases soil loss by erosion.
2. Growing of green manure crops in the off season reduces weed proliferation and weed growth.
3. Green Manuring helps in reclamation of alkaline soils. Root knot nematodes can be controlled by green manuring.
4. It adds organic matter to the soil and simulates activity of soil micro-organisms.
5. The Green Manuring takes nutrients from lower layers of the soil and adds to the upper layer in which it is incorporated.
6. It is a leguminous crop, it fixes ‘N’ from the atmosphere and adds to the soil for being used by succeeding crop. Generally, about 2/3 of the N is derived from the atmosphere and the rest from the soil.
7. It increases the availability of certain plant nutrients like P2O5, Ca, Mg and Fe.
